Precautions to Take and Activities to Avoid Following Your First Filler Procedure

Do your homework before deciding to obtain dermal fillers if you have been considering them. There are hazards and precautions to consider even with fillers, which are less intrusive than plastic surgery but nonetheless significant. Skin Shop medSpa can help you with your treatment.

Derma fillers — what are they?

When the skin on your face begins to sag due to aging, a cosmetic treatment called dermal fillers can help. Dermal fillers can range from those containing hyaluronic acid to those containing Poly-L-lactic acid.

After receiving fillers, what to expect?

You must adhere to your aftercare guidelines following your initial dermal filler appointment.

After getting dermal fillers, there are a few things you should do.

  1. Make sure you drink enough water.

After getting dermal fillers for the first time, it is essential to drink enough water. If you recently had dermal filler injections, you can speed up the healing process by drinking lots of water.

  1. Use ice

There may be some bruising and swelling after your first dermal filler visit. After consulting with your doctor, you may use ice on the area of treatment to reduce swelling and pain.

  1. Take a pain reliever.

If you experience any pain after obtaining dermal fillers, it is acceptable to take a pain reliever.

  1. Raise your eyes and ears.

The edema from dermal fillers can be minimized by raising the patient’s head. Keep your head 24 inches above your heart to reduce swelling and speed healing.

Avoid these mistakes after getting fillers

There are both things you should do and should not do after getting a dermal filler injection. After your dermal filler visit, avoid these:

  1. Avoid sleeping on your face

You should avoid sleeping on your face for the first day or two after obtaining dermal fillers. After a medical procedure, the face may swell and bruise easily.

  1. Do not put on any cosmetics.

After getting dermal fillers, you need to give your skin time to recover. Keep your face and lips free of makeup for at least 24 hours after your visit.

  1. Delay your workout for a while.

Strenuous exercise or physical activity should also be avoided for at least 24 hours after getting dermal fillers. As your blood pressure rises during these activities, you are more likely to experience bruising and swelling at the injection sites.

  1. Stay out of the heat

After getting dermal fillers for the first time, you should stay out of hot, humid climates for as long as possible. Avoid using the sauna or hot tub immediately following your treatment.
